Bar to the Iron Cross 1st Class 1939
(Spangezum Eisernes Kreuz 1.Klasse)
When an individual recommended for award of the 1939 Iron Cross 1st
Class had previously been awarded the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class during World War I, he was
given this bar. This was a pin-back badge worn on the upper left breast pocket
above the 1914 Iron Cross 1st Class. The bar measured 43.8 mm to 45 mm across the wingspan, and 30 mm to
31 mm high. Sometimes the reverse was stamped with the manufacturer's code
