This is NOT the insignia worn by Major
Hochstetter, however this is the correct
insignia for an SS-Sturmbannführer. (Major) The top images are the
collar tabs. They were were worn on the right and left collars as shown. The bottom
image is the shoulder strap. It was worn on the right shoulder only.
Below is the insignia that Major
Hochstetter wore. It was that of an SS-Standartenführer.

In addition, ranks of colonel and above did not wear the SS collar tab, but wore the same
insignia tab on each collar.
