Pilot's Badge

Pilot's Badge

(Flugzeugführerabzeichen)

All active military personnel qualifying for the military pilot's license received the Pilot's Badge.   The Pilot's Badge was worn on the left breast of the uniform jacket.  In the event the recipient was awarded the Iron Cross 1st Class, the Pilot's Badge was worn centered directly below it.

There is some question to the exact date of the institution of the Pilot's badge.  The date of March 26, 1936 seems to be the accepted  institution date.

The measurements of the Pilot's Badge are:   Height:  53mm.  Width:  42mm.  Wingspan of the eagle:  65mm.
